Traditional Neighborhood Design
Devaun Park is destined to set the new standard for neighborhood
design and lifestyle and has been endorsed by the North Carolina Governor's Task Force on Smart Growth as the "cutting edge" in Traditional Neighborhood Design.
The philosophy behind Devaun Park is called "New
Urbanism" and it hopes to replace suburban sprawl
with Traditional
Neighborhood Design (TND).
TND developments are mixed-use communities where residents live, work, and play within a mix of various sized homes as well as parks, shops, restaurants, and offices all located within strolling distance.
Architects and Developers are working together to
promote traditional neighborhood patterns as better than conventional
suburban development by creating a sense of community, protecting
the environment, and providing a higher quality of living.
Devaun Park is part of the New Urbanism movement inspired by southern coastal towns, combining the lifestyle that people remember from childhood with a new understanding about smart town planning. Front porches, tree-lined sidewalks, a central town center, plus shared parks and common areas are the unique elements featured in Traditional Neighborhood Designs.
